Michael Stein will explore with you the remarkable capabilities of modern telescopes. Without these instruments, new discoveries in astronomy would be impossible — as they are always closely linked to advances in technology.

On May 9, 2023, the exhibition ship MS Wissenschaft set off again on its journey across Germany. The focus this year: the universe. An exhibit by astrophysicists from Bochum led by Prof. Dr. Julia Tjus will also be on board.

We are pleased to invite you to the public lecture “Kleine Galaxien - Große Wirkung:  Von Zwerggalaxien, galaktischen Winden und den ersten Galaxien im Universum" (in German).
Dominik Bomans will show that 'small' is anything but insignificant — especially in the realm of galaxies. It is these dwarf galaxies that provide the crucial building blocks for the formation and evolution of all galaxies, even the largest ones.

We are pleased to invite you to the public lecture “Neue Astronomie auf La Palma" (in German).
Lena and Maximilian Linhoff will take you to the Canary Island of La Palma, a destination not just for tourists but especially for astronomers. There, some of the world’s most advanced telescopes are at work, helping them to explore the nature of the mysterious cosmic rays.
